Episodic Art Director | Location Design & Colour supervisor

- Dorg van Dango, 2020, directed by Fabian Erlinghäuser -

Dorg van Dango was my first supervisor role, working with director Fabian Erlinghäuser to ensure the designs and palettes aligned with his vision for the show. My collaboration with the team and dedication to the project and the artists led me to be promoted to Episodic Art Director during it's production. I developed a final location design style and colour palette for the tv series, based on the beautiful concept art of Rosa Ballester-Cabo. This required problem solving the flat perspective to create a definitive style guide for the storyboard and design teams. It also required balancing the colour palettes of the rich, picture-book concepts, to ensure the characters were readable on screen. Other tasks on the project included:

  • Breaking down each script with the storyboard supervisor to create new locations and camera angles for each episode.
  • Working closely with the character design supervisor to ensure that the location, character and prop designs aligned with a cohesive visual language and colour palette.
  • Collaborating with the BG supervisor in WildBrain studio, Canada, creating a style guide for their team, providing guidelines for each episode, problem solving challenges and reviewing production material.
  • Supervising 8 artists over the course of the production.
  • Providing extra compositing reference for challenging episodes.
